Not much going on this week.....except swimming, swimming, swimming.
Slugger is continuing with his swim therapy. He looks forward to it every day - since it's the only thing he gets to do all day. He is using his leg a little more each day and has nice form. Slugger really concentrates hard on swimming to the toy.
He loves getting the toy even if it means sticking his head in the water.
This toy is good because it's small enough around that he doesn't swallow too much water.
However when the gets back to the other end of the pool he doesn't want to give the toy back - he wants to take it out of the water so there is always a little bit of a struggle each time.
Sometimes it is a little bright though!
Since the weather is nice and warm this week, Mike decided it was a good time for all the dogs to go swimming. Sparkie will swim a minute or two if daddy asks her too but it's not her favorite activity. And Wazzu only likes to swim if it's her idea - and it's never her idea in a pool.
But quite by accident we found that Sparkie really loves to swim if her buddy Quickie is in the pool at the same time. They looked like twins swimming around together in the pool. As long as Quickie was in the pool, Sparkie would just swim and swim with no inclination to get out at all.
They were each swimming for a different toy and never interfered with the other one. Sparkie liked the little bone toy and Quickie had to have the tennis ball.
They really were quite the pals and did this over and over for quite some time.
When Wazzu saw Pounce and Lindy swimming and having so much fun she didn't want to be left out. So she got in the pool all on her own for the first time ever, did one lap, and then got out. Well that's certainly an improvement for her!
She even got a tennis ball - shows what happens when other dogs are getting praised for something!
Then Sparkie decided she'd like to try swimming with Lindy. It turns out they are a great synchronized swimming team. They each have their favorite toy. Quickie is patiently waiting for everyone to get out of his way so he can get his ball.
They each successfully got their toy and back they go - in perfect formation of course.
Finally the coast is clear for Quickie to do his favorite dive. Wazzu is very impressed!
So all six dogs got to do some swimming a few times this week as it was a great way for them to cool off during our little streak of warm weather.
Of course after getting wet it is very important to get dried off!
