Welcome to Sedona

(Cottonwood, AZ) Boogie and I had so much fun on our walk yesterday that we decided to do it again today. I told Boogie he could lead again as long as he went a different route. He was pleased to oblige.

Today we did a more open route. From our highest point we could see the city of Jerome off in the distance. Jerome is an old copper mining town but is now has a lot of art galleries.

From there we meandered our way down to the lakes. The sun was shining on them from just the right direction to give very pretty reflections.

The water was so still it was like a mirror.

Across the path from the lake was a large heron sitting up in a tree enjoying the pretty day along with us.

One of the smaller lakes has a lot of grasses around it. If you listen you can hear lots of ducks rustling around in the grass.

The different kinds of vegetation in front of the mountains in the background was so pretty.

The nests in this tree were very pretty...much prettier than I captured in this picture.

From there Boogie and went down to the river so that Boogie could take a little dip as he was really hot. The water in the river looked as much like glass as the water in the lake.

I think you can now see why we like this state park so much. There are so many pretty trails, beautiful scenery, and very spacious RV sites.

We'd been looking forward to this afternoon for a long time. Mom and Dad were to arrive in Sedona for a visit. A friend of mine owns vacation rental homes in Sedona and on the Oregon Coast. They are very upscale houses with all the amenities you could possibly think of and more! Most of the houses are large but they have one small house that sleeps two - just perfect for Mom and Dad.

We arrived at the house a little before Mom and Dad so that we could stock the refrigerator for them. This was the greatest little house. Before we'd even gone inside we were very impressed. The landscaping was beautiful.

This tree in full bloom in front of the red rock mountain was gorgeous.

And how cute is the entrance to the house.

If that wasn't enough, the scenery was gorgeous..

..in every direction. If you look closely you can see one of the fairways of the nearby Sedona Golf Resort.

As nice as the outside was, the inside was even nicer. Everything was top notch. The appliances were all brand new and fancy. The counters were marble and the floor was beautiful tile. The entire house looked like a model home. Sue, the owner, is a fabulous decorator and she had certainly put her brilliant touches all throughout the house. Why I didn't take pictures of the inside I'll never know. My bad!

Sue does everything top notch. In fact, she even had a beautiful Welcome basket on the kitchen counter that had a really nice bottle of wine, and a few bags of cashews, fancy peanut butter filled pretzels (how did Sue know that Mom loves peanut butter?) and multi-grain pretzel bites. How thoughtful was that?

About 45 minutes after we got there, Mom and Dad arrived. It was so good to see them again. I'd been looking forward to this or a long time! I was sorry to hear that Dad had a cold. I hope it doesn't bother him too much while he is here. This picture was taken on the deck of the house.

Mike and I had planned a nice barbeque dinner for this evening. I think Mom and Dad need to meet us in more places as we never eat this well when it is just Mike and I. It looks like Mike is even enjoying cooking on the barbeque.

We stayed for quite a while after dinner visiting. The dogs were all really good and laid down on their pillows to rest as we visited. They were all really happy as Mom and Dad had brought each one of them a toy!

Finally we decided we'd better get going as we had a 45 minute drive back to the RV and the dogs still hadn't had dinner yet. But what a great evening!
