(Bend, OR) This always seems like the true beginning of our trip as we do this exact same thing every year before we take off…..we go to the Beaver Service Center in Bend, OR to get all the last minute repairs to the RV.
We drove all day Tuesday, arriving just before the place closed so that we could get assigned a parking space with electricity. Made it! The spot we got though was really sloped so we had trouble getting and staying level. But we made it.
Wednesday morning they started working on us right at the stroke of 8:00am. By 1:00pm they were all done. Wow – and they accomplished a lot. This is just the best place. They do a great job and their customer service is definitely second to none!
We then immediately took the coach across the street to the guys that do all our custom interior work. They did some work for us a few weeks ago and we needed one thing fixed/adjusted a little bit. We thought it was going to be some big involved thing. I kid you not, it took the guy less than 30 seconds. And to top it off, they gave us some nice marrow bones for the dogs. How nice is that. This guy gives us bones every time and he loves pits. So he always makes a big deal over Slugger. Slugger gets so excited when he sees Greg. And this time was certainly no exception. Slugger just couldn’t contain himself one bit – boy was he ever wild!!
All our work was finished earlier than we thought but we wouldn’t be able to make it to our destination before dark so we decided to just stay here overnight and they were kind enough to let us stay.
While the work was being done we went to our favorite mountain trails and went hiking. The three big dogs got to be off-leash. Boogie is wondering how this works. Slugger has a pretty poor recall and Boogie has a great recall. So how is it Slugger gets to be off leash and he has to stay on! We tried to explain to Boogie that there could be things in the forest that would want to eat him if they had the chance. I don’t really think he understood but nonetheless he was a really good sport about being on the leash.
Boogie loves to dig - and I'm pretty sure that is just a terrier thing. We were a little worried that this might hurt his foot but he sure didn't show it if it did.
However, I don't know if this is a terrier thing or just a Boogie thing. But he doesn't dig deep holes. He digs troughs and then lies down in them.
What is Wazzu doing?
Besides just looking cute!
As you might guess she's doing her favorite pastime....looking up a tree.
Mike swore there was nothing up there. But I always believe Wazzu as she is always right. And sure enough.....
Slugger is hoping to get back into agility big time now that it's been almost five months since his surgery. Here he is practicing his dogwalk.
It was really hot here again today so in the early evening we took a walk around the downtown park. But I’ll tell you there is nothing relaxing about taking four dogs on leash on a walk. We could do the three big dogs together no problem. But the addition of Boogie has certainly changed things. We have a LOT to work on in that respect. I’m thinking it could take years!
I'm going to leave you with this one last picture. This is my artsy picture. I'm not sure how I took this (I wasn't trying to do anything special) but I think it looks kind of cool.
