Angry Ocean

Before taking the dogs on the "tick" hike again today Mike offered to take me on a short sightseeing ride around Jacksonville.

During the drive he took me to Hanna Beach to look at the ocean. Man, that was one angry ocean.

The waves were very large and really crashed loud and hard. It was so different than I've seen an ocean look like. I've seen large waves in the Pacific but they didn't look like these.

The most amazing thing we saw were the many pelicans. The would fly along just above the waves just before they would break. Then they would zoom up in the air and find the next wave to soar along. It's really hard to describe but was amazing to watch.

On the way home we stopped at a specialty bread shop and bought a holiday bread for Thanksgiving.

After dropping me back at home they all went on the tick hike. And sure enough came home with bunches of ticks. Yuck! During the hike Mike heard Sparkie start to scream....non-stop. He called and called but she just kept screaming.

Mike was petrified and was sure something was eating Sparkie. He and Slugger (who was on leash) ran back down the trail and called but just more screaming. So Mike and Slugger left the trail and went crashing through the many vines. Slugger led Mike right to Sparkie who was digging like crazy screaming the whole time. Sparkie does that when she can actually see what she is chasing....ie when is she hot on the trail. Mike was so relieved as he truly was scared to death.

Although Sparkie was safe, Mike and Slugger didn't fare quite as well. Mike has scratches all over his forehead and Slugger has scrapes on his nose and under his eyes from crashing through the vines to try and find Sparkie.

Mike is just so happy that Sparkie is fine that he isn't at all concerned about the scratches and scrapes.
