Boardwalk

On our way to South Carolina we stopped in Willmington, NC. The park we stayed at gave us doggy bones when we checked in! And they had a fenced in off leash area almost the size of an agility field.

We took a driving tour during which time we came across a public beach access. Never ones to pass up a beach we stopped to check it out. I think this is the prettiest beach we’ve seen so far. As will all beaches in NC (that we’ve seen anyway) there were quite a few fishermen. I don’t know if you can see it but this picture shows the big “things” I was telling you that al the fishermen stick in the beach to hold their poles. This lady just happened to catch a fish while I was watching. You probably can’t see it well in this small picture but it looked like a very nice fish.

But what made this beach so pretty was the color of the water. It was the bluest blue and when the waves came crashing to the beach, which they did with great vigor, the water turned the whitest white. The pictures show it fairly well but as with most things it was even prettier in person.

There was a big battleship there that Mike really wanted to tour but unfortunately we didn’t get there in time. So instead we took a walk on the boardwalk across the water from the ship. Slugger was such a hit on the boardwalk. Everyone wanted to pet him. The other two dogs were totally ignored but everyone was smiling at Slugger. I guess he didn’t look scary as everyone just reached down to pet him without even asking. Of course he loved every second of it!!

Willmington advertises itself as the Seafood Capital of the World. I wonder how many cities bill themselves as that? But since they did, we decided we’d better have some seafood. So we stopped at one of restaurants on the boardwalk and placed a To Go order. The food was really good – but the best in the world….I don’t know about that.
