(Rochester, WA) Just after midnight, Mike had to take Boogie outside. The moon was really neat and there was lot of fog on the ground. It was really hard to get a shot since Mike couldn't see all the controls in the dark. The moon looked like the moon but this is a little overexposed - but you'll get the idea a little anyway.
This morning we got up bright and early so Mike could get the dogs a little exercise before we had to leave to head to Portland for an 11am appointment. We figured we'd be home by 2:00 or thereabouts, so we could leave the big dogs in the RV. It wouldn't be fair to ask the puppy to try to hold it for five hours so we decided to take him along. Since it was going to be a very hot day, we left the air conditioning on in the RV. Off we went.
The ride down was uneventful - which is always good. We got to the appointment a few minutes early so we played in a little grass area with Boogie for a few minutes before I had to go in. Mike stayed outside with the puppy while I went in to my appointment.
I was very encouraged as this is the first doctor that had an open mind and even said he enjoys a challenge. He had some ideas on a couple things we could try. While he said there is no way to ever make me all better, he seemed to think that some improvements could be made. Sounds good to me! Unfortunately, he said he didn't have time to do anything today as he had to go pick his kids up for lunch. So he asked if I could come back another day. I was really disappointed that we had driven so far and he hadn't scheduled enough time to even do anything. So now we had to figure out a way to get down here again. So while I was excited he had some ideas, I was disappointed that nothing actually happened today.
Oh well, at least we now have a little hope. Since it would take a couple hours to get home we decided to grab a quick bite to eat on the way. As we were heading north on the freeway this guy next to us kept honking and pointing. After a bit we figured out he was trying to tell us that we had a flat tire. So we pulled over at the next exit and sure enough the tire was flat. How could that be! We just put on all new tires just three weeks ago. Arg.
Mike carries an air compressor so he pumped up the tire to see if he could get it to hold air for a while. While we were waiting we went across the street and got a bit of lunch from a deli inside a supermarket. By the time we were done eating the tire was already pretty flat. But there was no room at all to change a tire where we were so we went to the next exit and pulled off at some really huge park.
Mike had never changed a tire on this car so he had to get out all the manuals and try to figure it out. And wouldn't you know this car came with one of those fake little spare tires - and it was only about half full of air. Boy are we glad we carry an air compressor with us. I tried to entertain Boogie while Mike changed the tire. But it was so hot that all Boogie wanted to do was lie in the shade....and eat garbage. I can't believe how much garbage people throw on the ground. Disgusting really.
We finally got the tire changed. But on these fake spare tires you can only go a maxium of 50mph. We limped along.....seems like it took forever. Finally about 5:00pm we managed to arrive home. Poor dogs had been alone a long time - I'm sure glad we left the air on for them!
The second we got back we gathered up all the dogs and took them to the off-leash area at the RV park. After a long hard day on every one, they had some major family relaxation exercises to do.
Sparkie of course needed to get her shoulders a workout so she decided to work on that for a bit - with supervision of course!
Boogie tried to convince us he was quite the champion digger and had made this big hole. But all he actually did was stick his head in it.
After a short play time, Mike headed out right away to see if he could get the tire either repaired or replaced. Turns out the tire was bad so it couldn't be fixed so they gave us a new tire. What a long day for poor Mike. He didn't get back from getting the new tire until after 9pm. He was one tuckered guy.
