Wazzu Finds a Friend

(Gold Beach, OR) We got up bright and early to go to the beach once again before a day of agility. Like yesterday, the winds were fairly calm in the morning. And once again the dogs had a great time on the beach.

It's always a little foggy in the morning and the beach is pretty much deserted - except for our dogs of course! I loved the colors in this photo and the fog in the distance. I don't know if it's possible to see "calm and serene" but that's how it felt out here on the beach this morning.

The theme at the beginning of our walk was "stick." All four dogs really wanted to do nothing but play with sticks. So here are a few "stick" pictures.

But the biggest change this morning was that Wazzu finally acknowledged that we have a puppy. And she has always loved puppies. So she started making up for lost time and spent most of the morning playing with Boogie. Here are a few pictures of their little play session.

While Wazzu and Boogie were busy playing, Sparkie decided she'd just go play in the waves. She can have so much fun on the beach all by herself.

However, we had to get scooting and head up for agility - after all, that's why we came all this way!

Like yesterday, we got there just in the nick of time for our walk-through. And Wazzu seemed to pick up just where she left off yesterday. Jumpers was first but she was well over time. Then came Chances - I managed to motivate her nicely for this run but it was well beyond our capabilities but she did try really hard. In fact, it was beyond the capabilities of most dogs as only one dog Q'd. Major kudos to that dog as it was HARD. There was only one Regular run today and Wazzu did manage to Q in that. I think we also Q'd in Tunnelers.

We only had four runs today which I actually thought was really silly. Well I guess there were five runs - but we don't do Weavers anymore. However, my logic is still the same. Today we finished by noon. Seems to me if people are going to drive all the way here and there are so few people then we should get to do six runs - plus Hoopers each day. Yesterday we only had five runs - plus Hoopers and we were done by 1:00. There is plenty of time and we're here, so why not? The judges are staying here so that shouldn't be a concern either. And NADAC would make more money too. Seems like win-win all the way around to me.

Sparkie had a great day today just like yesterday. She didn't get Chances - but was extremely close - I thought she was going to get it. After that she easily Q'd in Regular, Jumpers, and Weavers. In the last run of the day, Tunnelers, they had a box. Actually they just put out a line. You had to do the whole course behind the line except for tunnel number one. It was super hard. Everyone just laughed and said there was no way in the world. Mike also figured there was no way they could do it but he figured he'd try just for the fun of it - no one else even tried. As he figured, they couldn't do it but kudos to them for trying.

By the time the agility was over it was once again super windy outside. So we didn't even bother to go to the beach as it is just plain not fun in that much wind. Yesterday it was so bad that I had to hold on to Mike and walk directly behind him and it was still just way too hard going for me.

So we just packed everything up and headed north up the coast to Bandon. We had been to Bandon a couple years ago and had just fallen in love with the beach there. So I was really excited to get there and really happy that we'd be staying put for a week.

The last couple months have been really hectic and busy for us so a week with relatively little that we have to do is sounding really nice right about now.
