Blowin' In The Wind

(Desert Hot Springs, CA) Last night about 6:00pm the wind started blowing. It seemed odd to us as there had been a wisp of wind all weekend. We hadn’t heard of any wind in the forecast. But as the night went on the wind got stronger and stronger. It sounded like we were in the eye of a hurricane or tornado. It went on all night long! I got absolutely no sleep at all. Three of the dogs acted like they didn’t hear a thing. Slugger was a little worried so he was under the covers (like usual) but was right up against me – and quite often he had to wake up and kiss me for an extended amount of time before he felt safe enough to go back to sleep.

The odd thing was we weren’t blowing around all that much. Oh yes, we were rocking and a rolling alright. But for the amount of sound we were hearing, I couldn’t believe we were still upright. Even by late morning the wind was still going strong.

Mike tried to take Boogie out for his morning potty walk but Boogie had other things on his mind. He really wanted to chase a lot of the stuff that was blowing around but then he’d get scared as stuff would chase him. I’m not sure he ever paid attention long enough to get his pottying done. Silly boy. When Mike took the three big dogs out they did their stuff right away as they just wanted to get back inside.

As long as we lived here, and as often as we have visited here, we have never experienced wind like this. We’re glad we’re leaving – just hope it don’t follow us!

Our drive to Desert Hot Springs (which is just outside Palm Springs) was delightfully uneventful. We arrived around 5pm and it was so nice and warm. The park we are in is fairly large and fairly empty. From Mike's walks around the park, it seems as this is the "dog" park. From what he saw, we even have the fewest dogs - and certainly the best behaved dogs.
