The Art of Grooming

(San Clemente, CA) Oh gosh, drive, drive, drive. Seems like that’s all we do! This morning we drove close to two hours to take Boogie back to the groomers. We were told this appointment wouldn't take long so we had planned on just waiting. But when we got there they said it would be a couple hours. Obviously Boogie did not it enjoy it here last time as we couldn't get him close to the door. The poor little guy pulled with all his might to keep from going into that shop.

We left him and went to IHOP (International House of Pancakes). Mike just happened to see a commercial yesterday saying that today was International Pancake day. And to celebrate, IHOP was offering a free short stack of pancakes to everyone that came in. I love pancakes so there was no way we could pass on this offer. And as luck would have it, there was an IHOP just two blocks from where we left Boogie for grooming.

I was really surprised to find that the IHOP wasn't very busy. And I was also surprised to find that most of people that were there were ordering all kinds of things...but not the FREE pancakes even though they had signs about it on each and every table. The pancakes were great!! Of course I couldn't eat all mine so I put the extra in a napkin and then shared it with the dogs when we got back in the car. While they all enjoyed it, Wazzu was especially happy.

After that we went to the same park we went to last time we left Boogie for grooming. From the pictures I took, it looks like we're way out in the country.

But in actuality there is a very large busy road with businesses just 40 yards away. This is just one of the many reasons that the dogs must remain on leash. Even so, the dogs had a nice time getting out for a walk.

It didn't bother us that they had to be on leash as we were going to go to the off-leash beach after picking Boogie up. But when we picked Boogie up they told us to be sure not to bathe him. We said of course we know not to bathe him. I then mentioned that we were on our way to play at the beach. All three workers that were there just about hit the ceiling. NO!!!!! He's not allowed to get wet. Gosh, Boogie thnks that having to be a pretty boy isn't all that fun. Tee hee. So we just went back to the RV (such a long drive!) and took a couple walks around the park so that Boogie wouldn't get wet.

Only one problem....one of the big dogs peed on Boogie. Yikes! He's not supposed to get wet. So we wiped it off quickly with a dry towel but he stinks! I wonder which is worse in the ring: curly hair from getting wet or smelling like pee!

It's always something!
