Happy Anniversary Wazzu!

(Tucson, AZ) Nine years ago today put us on the road to the lifestyle we live today. We went from a home with two people with jobs and an old cat to a home with the most perfect dog joining the family. Life has not been the same since!

Wazzu was very eager to join our family and we were just as eager to have her join us. We almost lost her the very first week we had her - it turns out she was deathly allergic to the meds they sent home with her.

Wazzu was perfectly healthy from that time until two years ago when she became dangerously ill. So when we went to Wazzu's Valley Fever specialist today for her two year check-up and were given a clean bill of health, it was the best anniversary present any of us could have hoped for.

Of course we had to celebrate! It didn't take two seconds to figure out what Wazzu would want to do. She'd want to eat bread! So we decided to do pizza for dinner and Wazzu could have all the crusts. She was so happy!

Happy Anniversary Wazzu Puppy! This is how I always want to remember Wazzu - my little "Crazy Dog." Here's to MANY more anniversaries with my sweet little girl.

Before going to the vet appointment we wanted to get the dogs a little exercise. Mike took the three big dogs but left Boogie at home since he's still not feeling all that well. I decided to take Boogie on a short walk. Long story short, we ended up at the off-leash dog park located in the RV park. I glanced in and saw that it was empty so I decided to let Boogie go in and walk around.

But when we got inside and started walking, I noticed that there were three people and two dogs already there. Even though these dogs were about Wazzu's size, Boogie wasn't intimidated in the least. He went right over and started engaging in play. Even though he didn't have a lot of stamina he had a great time. He showed those big dogs who was boss!

Those two dogs left and I was just about ready to get Boogie on leash to leave when this large Bullmastiff mix came in. One misstep from this guy and Boogie would be squashed like a gnat. But I guess that didn't occur to Boogie as he went running right over.

This physically huge guy was a huge scaredy cat! He got scared when Boogie went charging at him. It really was very cute. Boogie tried really hard to get the guy to play...and he really wanted to play but it was just too scary. So smart Boogie went over and got under the bench. And sure enough, the big guy was then brave enough to come over to Boogie. What a sweet dog!

When we got home from Wazzu's vet appointment, Sparkie and Slugger were both sneezing much more than the last couple days. We're sure having a tough time fighting whatever it is that has invaded us!
